This Thanksgiving, Dolly Parton added a rock ‘n’ roll flair to the festivities as she took the stage at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, for The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Kickoff Halftime Show during the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day game. Following the release of her latest album Rockstar, Parton delivered a dynamic performance that showcased her iconic style and energy.
For her halftime appearance, Parton wore a twist on the Cowboys’ cheerleader uniform—a white vest with blue stars, a blue crop top, and white shorts. The outfit, which appeared to expose her midriff, was actually made of a bedazzled mesh that covered her stomach, featuring a crystal star over her belly button and more crystals on her tights.
She kicked off the performance with her classic hit “Jolene,” followed by another favorite, “9 to 5,” and also treated the crowd to her version of Queen’s “We Are the Champions.”
Parton had been announced as the halftime performer a month earlier and expressed her honor in partnering with The Salvation Army. She highlighted the importance of the Red Kettles, which symbolize hope for those in need, urging people to give generously during the holiday season.
Her new album Rockstar, released on November 17, features a mix of covers, original songs, and collaborations with famous artists including Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Elton John, Pink, Brandi Carlile, Melissa Etheridge, and Sting. Before the album dropped, Parton shared a duet of Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball” with her goddaughter, which both artists reflected on as a deeply meaningful collaboration.
