Freckles, a 3-year-old Husky-Labrador mix, refused to stop barking through the night, and his persistence may have saved his family from a terrifying encounter. George Woods, startled by the commotion, got out of bed to investigate.
To his shock, the cause of Freckles’ relentless barking was a massive 7.5-foot alligator lurking and hissing outside the front door on the cemented area of their home in Coral Springs!
“My first thought was, what are we going to do now?” Woods later shared with a reporter.
After calling the security guard of their gated community, Woods initially faced disbelief about his unusual story. However, when security arrived and witnessed the enormous gator firsthand, they quickly contacted the Gator Boys, a team of skilled alligator handlers.
The wildlife experts safely relocated the alligator, nicknamed Daisy, to a suitable new habitat.
Freckles has been hailed as a hero, as his quick warning prevented a potentially dangerous encounter. His mom, an airline pilot, was about to leave for work and could have unknowingly walked right into the gator in the dark.
Thanks to Freckles, the family avoided a harrowing situation. What a good boy! 🐾
