Meteorologists typically aren’t expected to break major news, but Ian Cassette, who works for Fox 35 in Orlando, Florida, found himself in the middle of a life-saving story during a routine flight.

About 30 minutes into his journey from Pittsburgh to Orlando, Ian noticed commotion a few rows ahead. A young mother’s 3-month-old baby, Anjelé, had stopped breathing, and the situation required urgent assistance.

The flight crew quickly issued a call for medical professionals to come forward. For several agonizing seconds, the passengers, including Ian, held their breath, hoping someone qualified would respond.

Tamara Panzino, a nurse with over 20 years of experience, hesitated at first, admitting she’s “not one to jump into drama.” But when no one else stepped forward, she knew she had to act. Tamara approached the infant, providing oxygen and gently rubbing Anjelé’s legs and chest. After a tense few moments, the baby began breathing again on her own.

“When you have to step up and do what’s right, you do it,” Tamara later told Ian. Her quick actions saved Anjelé’s life, and her selfless act left the entire plane filled with relief and gratitude.

Before disembarking in Orlando, Anjelé’s father lifted her up, showing the passengers her smiling, healthy face. Cheers erupted throughout the cabin as everyone celebrated the happy outcome and acknowledged Tamara’s critical role in saving the baby.

After landing, Ian spoke with Anjelé’s parents, who were still shaken but incredibly grateful. Ian later shared on Twitter that they were deeply moved by the positive energy on the flight and by Tamara’s courage and professionalism. He also praised the flight crew for maintaining calm during such a stressful moment.
