Florence “Fireball Flo” Hackman, an extraordinary 106-year-old woman, recently celebrated her birthday in a way that has become her signature—by enjoying a shot of Fireball whisky. Hackman, a resident of a senior living home in Loveland, Ohio, is widely adored for her vibrant personality and zest for life.
“Flo brightens our days and reminds us of the joy and fun we can have at any age,” said Kristen Kelly, executive director of Traditions of Deerfield, where Hackman resides. Kelly praised Hackman’s inspiring outlook on life, which has made her a beloved figure among staff and residents alike.
On Saturday, December 14, Hackman marked her milestone birthday with her customary shot of whisky and a chocolate-frosted cake, surrounded by her loved ones. This annual tradition started last year when she celebrated while watching a football game.
A devoted Cincinnati Bengals fan, Hackman remains optimistic about the team’s future despite their current 7-8 record. Reflecting her positive spirit, Hackman offered some advice on living well: “Take things one day at a time. Think about what you need to accomplish today, and stay active as long as you can.”
Born on December 16, 1918, Hackman attributes her remarkable longevity to always having a good time. “Maybe that’s why I’ve been here for so long,” she mused in a video shared with The Cincinnati Enquirer.
This year, Hackman’s birthday wish was for her Bengals to make it to the Super Bowl, a dream the team acknowledged in honor of her special day. “I really hope they make it,” Hackman said, adding, “Wouldn’t that be something? I’m rooting for them to do it while I’m still here.”
Hackman’s boundless energy and love for life continue to inspire everyone around her, proving that age is just a number when it comes to living with passion and joy.
